Speaking of China’s railway infrastructure, we have to mention a super challenge – the construction of a railway in Shudi. In ancient times, Li Bai sighed that “the difficulty of the Shu Road, it is difficult to go to the blue sky”, at that time, the Shu land, the mountains were undulating, the canyons were vertical and horizontal, and it was more difficult to build a road here than to climb to the sky. However, we Chinese railway infrastructure builders do not believe in evil, and we have to turn this “moat” into a “thoroughfare”.
Take the Baocheng Railway as an example, it is the first railway in New China with arduous engineering. When it came time to build, the engineers were faced with a huge “puzzle puzzle”. There are steep peaks everywhere, and in some places the slope even reaches 30‰, what is this concept? For example, it’s like you’re building blocks on a super steep slide, and you have to be careful with each one, and the slightest mistake will fall short.
But our infrastructure workers are not afraid, they use their ingenuity to invent a unique “light bulb line” design. Imagine a railroad going around like the outline of a light bulb, and the train climbs along this unique line, cleverly solving the problem of too much incline.

The geology of Shu is particularly complex, and the rocks are hard and brittle, like huge ‘hard bones’, and ordinary digging tools can’t do anything about it.
Infrastructure workers are like brave ‘Iron Man’, constantly experimenting with new technologies and tools. They used ‘secret weapons’ such as drills and explosives to gnaw off this ‘hard bone’ little by little.
Sometimes, in order to ensure the accurate orientation of the tunnel, engineers will also use the ancient ‘astronomical survey’, just like the ancient astronomers, by looking at the stars to determine the direction.
